Against You, and You Only Have I Sinned. We are responsible To God Alone

Psalm 51:4: "Against You, and You only have I sinned," said King David.

When I was young, I used to run at night where I grew up, in the Panama Canal Zone.   There were no fences and LOTS of open space. I remember running at night, stopping at a field, and lying on the ground looking up at the million stars in the night sky. Immediately, I understood how insignificant I was in the universe AND that I am responsible first and foremost to God alone, as the above scripture states.

What that meant and means to me today, is that I can't blame anyone else for my choices, emotions, or actions. I am responsible for them and as such, get to deal with them before and with my maker, God.

I was recently sharing the above in a group I am leading and there were other insights as well. It also means that as we are responsible to God alone, we are not responsible for what others think or what their choices are. We can't make anyone else "happy" or "like us." We also don't get to be guilty for other's choices as they are also responsible before God alone...whether they know this truth or not!

What we are responsible for is being who and what God created us to be and work with Him as He transforms us to be who He created us to be, and then, do. Our responsibility is to God alone. Freedom is the result as the truth will set us free!

Enjoy the Journey,

Nancy
