Adapted from In Touch Ministries:
One obvious way that we praise the Lord is with our voice. We can either speak or sing our worship as well as praise Him as we serve others. True worship flows from the mouths of believers who focus upon God’s attributes.
Genuine worship allows the Lord to fill our hearts and minds with His presence. Make sure it's not an empty act! For example, if we lift our hands and sing loud only because it feels good, then it's just an emotional high. That kind of selfish “praise” falls short of heaven.
Our God is praised when we serve Him. People were created to bring glory and honor to His name. Therefore, nothing gets to limit our willingness to do for the King. Speak boldly about His grace and His work! Loving Jesus and understanding what He’s done gets to be all the motivation needed to praise Him with your life. Don’t just sing; serve His people, His kingdom, and share the gospel. Help to make God’s throne room ring with worship!
I love the above and true worship happens in my heart when I'm grateful and thankful. I end up wanting to dance like no one's watching! Do you ever want to dance like no one's watching? I've done it. I hear a praise song from the other room, and I start dancing!! A good song, by Mercy Me, is Grace Has Got You. Listen to it and start gliding across the floor, hands lifted high, singing to our Most High God. Dance Like No One's Watching--In Praise! Let your heart be lifted high in thankfulness and gratefulness and you will meet the Lord and He will meet you.
