Delay, Delay, Delay! Who Is In Charge Of My Schedule?

Have you ever been frustrated over wanting to get a project completed and yet, delay, upon delay, upon delay keeps you from completing your project? Your schedule keeps getting thwarted
You don't have enough nails or glue to finish putting the kid's playground together, your boss says wait, on presenting a project, your plane is delayed, and you will likely miss your connection, or the internet goes down and you get to wait for it to come up!
The list can go on and on. The point, is how do we respond to these delays? How do you respond?
Recently, I didn't respond as best as I could have. There have been many delays and projects held up at my work for various reasons beyond my control (key word, control). Needless to say, I was frustrated as I like to finish a project and move to implementation so that I don't

have to keep it in my brain or keep it on a list while thinking about how best to present it. I even mentioned to a level higher than myself, that this was frustrating, being delayed so often (could be up to a month, such as this present project) and wondered aloud, if there was a way to still move forward with other work being done with leaders being pulled away. The leaders were going to talk about this suggestion.
The bottom line was that I get to and did let it go. It's not my responsibility to move things forward though it would greatly support the nurses and social workers who are caring for the hospitalized patients and streamline their work. Especially with a new go-live next month! This is hard for me to not be frustrated as I care and care a lot. Plus, I don't like things hanging over my head, not being finished. Now, I get to keep track of all the items being held up which is more work for me. But again, I am not responsible for those decisions, so I get to let it go, which I did.
I was trying to control the outcome and get this project completed before the go-live as it's related and would support the success of the go-live. Once I chose to let go, I had so much more energy and wasn't frustrated anymore. It's funny how God made us! When we let go of control and trust Him with our schedule and life, things work out so much better!
So, what happened?
Once I let go, a couple hours later, I had an impression/idea (I believe from God) to add something to the project that would help the whole of the company I work for, in the Care Management arena. So, I added it!
What did I see?
God is in control of my schedule. All the details of it. Do I need to take action? Of course, but at the same time, not "control it" or push against the goad. Pushing against the goad is like running into a brick wall...nothing moves, so why push? I saw that if it hadn't been for the delay of this one particular project, I wouldn't have gotten the idea (from God) to make the project even better.
So how will I respond moving forward?
I will ask, God, what are you doing? What do you want me to see or learn from this? What else do you have that might even be better?
Asking these questions right away will save me from going into frustration which is always a good thing!
What about you? What will you do? Who will you put in is in charge of your schedule?
We all have a choice in how to respond, and I pray that you join me in responding in peace and unity.
Blessings to you,
Nancy
