Did you ever think that you would go in debt for your or your kid's college? Do you already have college debt? Have you ever had a stop sign in front of you or what feels like a brick wall that you should not break down? While it’s always best not to go into debt, sometimes that’s the way it goes.
Our daughter was accepted, right after high school, to 5 private Christian colleges. She worked HARD to get good grades and to be accepted to all of them. However, when it came time to decide and commit to paying the school, we, as parents just couldn’t do it. There was, what felt like a brick wall, blocking our way. AND…as I looked at how to financially pay for her schooling, I felt so heavy inside and so unsettled. Could it be that I felt this way because she wasn’t sure about what direction she wanted to study? Or…could this be God, telling us that He had a different path for her?
As I write this, I know the answer to the above is the latter…that God had another path for her to take. You see, if we had not sent her to a community college, she and we would likely be over our heads in debt. Was it easy for us to say no, to her? For her to go through seeing all of her friends leaving for college, while she stayed home? No, it was not easy and at times, the going was very rough. My heart would hurt as I watched her walk her way. However, we all grew greatly through this! Now, the path is clear for the way she is to go and we now feel free and clear to work out the finances for her to do God’s plan for her life. If we had not listened and gone into college debt, her and our situation today would be financially worse and different. Now, we are celebrating God’s way for her which He literally dropped in our laps and for which she already has much favor!
Our lesson….God has a plan for each of us and He wants to lead us to our way, which He ordained for us, even before we were even born. We just get to listen and wait.
We have not or know not, because we don’t ask. Ask the God of the Universe, submit to Him, and He shows us, His Way for each of us! The scripture that comes to my heart is
Matthew 7:7... “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Ask, listen, and expectantly wait for God to show you His way for you. He will, as it is His will for you to know your purpose and path in life!
Blessings on your journey,
