I Get Mercy and Not Judgment?

2 people hugging with the word, mercy, below them

Mercy? Judgment? Grace?  Grace and mercy are closely related but are different.  Grace is God's unmerited favor to us... i.e. ..favor that we don't deserve.  God is for us.  God's mercy means that He will not give us the judgment that we deserve because of our sin. You might ask yourself, "I get mercy and not judgment?" The answer could be yes!

Monopoly's "get-out-of-jail-free" card is a pass. Mercy is a pass on the judgment due us as a result of our actions/sins. Through Jesus' death & resurrection, God put our judgment on Jesus when He was crucified.  All of our guilty verdicts (judgments) for what we have done, are doing, or what we will do, were put onto Jesus.

Jesus broke the power of sin & death over us with His resurrection and for those of us who accept and believe what Jesus did for us, God then sees us as flawless, as white as snow.  He does not condemn us or give us the judgment we deserve--indeed good news!  God says, in Lamentations 3:22-23, "The Lord's loving-kindnesses never cease, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning."   So, if God doesn't judge us, who is our judge?   It has been our experience that we each are our worst judge until we fully grab ahold of and understand grace, mercy, and justification.  May this blog support you in this and may this week, you seek to understand God's mercy and love towards you.
