LOOK UP!

Have you ever just looked up? Or are you so busy that you stare straight ahead while there's life above you? Or when you take a walk? Where are you looking? I say, "Look up!"

one guy looking up
What is he looking at?

You may be thinking..why? Why should I look up?

A lot is going on in the sky that can take your breath away and give you a glimpse of how BIG God is. Take the clouds for instance.

Many years ago, clouds were beautiful but not as crisp, white, and clean as they are now. Have you noticed the difference? It's very noticeable. Now, you can see where the cloud ends, whereas before, it was not as crisp or clear. These white, puffy clouds against a blue sky can take your breath away! It's gorgeous!

What about at night? I look up at the sky before I go to bed every night. About 2.5 years ago, when I looked at the moon, I noticed it appeared different. It, too, was bright and crisp, and the viewable space between me and seeing the moon was clear and clean. It took my breath away.

Looking up, you can see how VAST our sky is and get a sense of how tiny we are. I got in touch with this when I was younger when I laid in the grass at night, looking up at all the stars in the sky (no city lights were around). Suddenly, as I looked up, I felt how tiny I was compared to the universe and God. And even though I was tiny compared to the universe, I knew that God still loved me and had a plan for my life. I realized that if the universe was HUGE, how HUGE is God? It's mind-boggling to think of how BIG God is.

Thinking of how BIG or HUGE God is reminds me why we get to look up. It's good to be reminded how BIG God is and that He is in control; we are not. We are a teeny, tiny speck in the universe on this spinning planet, and yet, God knows us and calls us by name. We are loved. We are valuable.

We get to look up, love, and appreciate what we see, knowing that God is in control. Because of this, we can come to Him for EVERYTHING and in any situation.

As you read this, do you believe you can come to God for EVERYTHING in any situation?

If this is hard for you, start by looking up and noticing the beauty of the clouds and sky. Look at nature and how amazing it is to have food because of the bees, butterflies, and other insects pollinating plants. Notice how the earth responds with vibrant colors after a rain, and all the plants perk up!

As I write this, it's almost time for bed. I'm going to look up! How about you?

Blessings to you,

Nancy
